It has recently been reported that a marriage of two celebrities is officially over. The two celebrities in question are actress and musician Zooey Deschanel and musician Ben Gibbard. Deschanel plays the lead role in the television series "New Girl" and is the "She" of the band "She & Him" (the "Him" is musician M. Ward). Gibbard is the lead singer of the band "Death Cab for Cutie."

Deschanel and Gibbard got married in 2009. Late December of last year, a divorce petition was filed in relation to the marriage. According to an article on the Los Angeles Times' website, last Wednesday, the former couple's divorce was finalized.

One issue that can arise in connection to a divorce is spousal support. Reportedly, in their divorce, Deschanel and Gibbard both waived their rights to spousal support.

Another issue that can arise in connection to a divorce is how property will be divided between the divorcing couple. The above-mentioned Los Angeles Times article did not mention what happened in regards to the issue of property division in the divorce of Deschanel and Gibbard. One wonders what happened in regards to this issue.

The issues of child custody and child support did not arise in this divorce, as Deschanel and Gibbard do not have any kids.

Many important issues (such as child custody, child support, spousal support and property division) can arise in connection to a divorce. What resolutions are reached in regards to such issues can be very impactful on both of the parties to a divorce. Thus, when one is going through the divorce process, having a strong advocate on one's side can be very important.
