Comedian Chris Rock Files For Divorce

Divorce is a difficult time for any family in Louisiana. While some families are able to peaceably and agreeably settle their differences, not every family is able to do so. For celebrities whose every move is reported by the media, this lack of privacy can create additional complications in an already difficult situation. Comedian Chris Rock is learning first hand about the media’s attraction to the star’s life after filing for divorce.

Rock and his wife, Malaak Compton-Rock, have been married for 19 years. They also have two daughters together, ages 12 and 10. Despite their many years of marriage, Rock has recently filed a divorce petition. In it, he is requesting joint custody.

He additionally claims that since the couple’s split, Compton-Rock has denied him access to their children. He expresses concerns that his estranged wife is not acting in the best interest of the children. A spokesperson for Compton-Rock denies these allegations, arguing that they can be easily disproven. Sources claim that Rock is requesting that their assets be fairly distributed and says that Compton-Rock is capable of contributing to her and the children’s support.

A person in Louisiana who finds him or herself in a situation such as this will likely want an experienced attorney to help fight for his or her best interests as well as those of any children involved. Fortunately, there is help available to help a person seeking a divorce, especially a complicated divorce involving a person or persons with a high net worth. While a divorce will likely always be emotionally difficult, it is possible to come to an agreement while simultaneously avoiding bitterness and contention.
